Validation of selected SCIAMACHY/ENVISAT level 1 and 2 scientific data products by comparison with products from the balloon-borne LPMA/DOAS (Limb Profile Monitor of the Atmosphere/Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy) data are presented. The data have been gathered during three balloon flights of the LPMA/DOAS payload in the years 2002/2003. The preliminary comparison studies of LPMA/DOAS data with SCIAMACHY's level 1 (solar irradiance) and level 2 products (profiles of O3, NO2, BrO,...) are very promising and encouranging indicating that the scientific limb data products derived from the SCIAMACHY algorithm development are very reasonable.
