We propose to observe 7 bright GX sources with the AXAF HETG to (1) study narrow emission and absorption line features in their spectra which will help disentangle the different physical processes involved, (2) determine the source positions to better than 1" accuracy which will greatly improve the chances of identifying the optical counterparts with future HST observations, and (3) measure the energy-dependent halo structures surrounding these sources to probe the composition and size distribution of the intervening interstellar grains.
