The telemetry data processing system for Venera 11 and 12 was designed to perform two functions: (1) high-speed analysis of current descent data for the estimation of descent and landing parameters, thus assuring the reliability of experiment systems and radio communication; and (2) high-speed analysis of data immediately after landing in order to recover the descent trajectory and orient experiment systems in a time and height frame. The design of the data processing system is described and consideration is given to the effects of environmental factors.
