The volume of high-quality spectroscopic supernova data available for analysis is increasing dramatically. The supernova community faces the question of how to systematically confront these data sets to both robustly constrain explosion physics (kinetic energies, ejecta composition, etc.), and detect new correlations or indicators that improve their utility as cosmic distance indicators. One approach is that of direct spectroscopic analysis, where parameterized model spectra are synthesized and compared to an observed one, such as with the familiar Synow code. I will present new techniques and computer code enabling fully automated direct analysis up to the challenge of confronting emerging large data sets, such as from the Nearby Supernova Factory.
