The role of autoionization phenomena in an overabundant ion (Si II) is investigated to account for the broad spectral features in magnetic Ap stars. The necessary atomic data are obtained through an ab initio computation of the Si(plus) electronic structure. The energy and identification of levels and the presence of autoionized lines are compared with available experimental data. A table presents the autoionized levels of Si II up to an energy equal to 200,000/cm above the ground level. A line list, which includes many predicted autoionized lines, is established.
