Brightness fluctuations of homogeneous and discrete auroral ovals were investigated prior to the formation of a center of geomagnetic disturbances in the observation region. Three types of oscillations were observed in the near-midnight sector of the auroral oval during transition from magnetically quiet to magnetically disturbed conditions: long-period (greater than 10 min), short-period (1-4 min), and high-frequency (less than 1 min).
