Improved numerical values are presented for the atomic partition functions of Cr I, Cr II, and Cr III in a wide range of astrophysical and laboratory plasma conditions. Temperatures are from 2000 to 40,000 K; the values for the lowering of the ionization energy range from 0.01 eV to 2 eV. The procedure employed uses a simple cutoff approach to the lowering of the ionization energy, taking into account all known quantum states of the atomic or ionic system under consideration, including the states above the 'normal' continuum.
