Formulas for the atmospheric transmission of a solar beam propagating between a heliostat and a receiver atop a tower were derived. These formulas are wavelength-independent. The implicit and explicit physical variables contained in this transmittance model are discussed. Two computer programs developed to implement the transmittance model are described and a user's guide presented.
