Evans et al. (1970) have published calculations of the atmospheric transmission of the (0-0) band in the infrared atmospheric system of molecular oxygen at night time. We present results of modified and extended calculations suitable for both nightglow and dayglow conditions and indicate the magnitude of the effect of seasonal changes in atmospheric temperature. The calculations have been applied to observations of the dayglow from a supersonic aircraft flying in the lower stratosphere and make satisfactory corrections for changes in both height and direction of observation.
