An example is given of the usefulness of a method that can give infinitesimal shock wave equations from a differential system when distribution methods fail to do so. The method is applied to a specific system of partial differential equations, namely that of noninductive, heat-current-free perfect relativistic fluids. The method is found to be particularly useful and easy to apply with regard to the determination of the propagation equations.
