The Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) is the high energy particle physics experiment to be installed on the International Space Station (ISS) in 2008 for a period of three to five years. The main physics motivations are focused on precise measurements of cosmic rays, indirect search for dark matter and direct search for heavy anti-matter in space. After a brief description of the detector, major physics capabilities and performances of the AMS-02 experiment are presented.
