A brief presentation of the basic scientific results of the ASTRO 7 rocket experiment package is given. The surface brightness of the night sky was observed in six broad spectral bands from 180 nm to 900 nm. With emphasis on the ultraviolet, the data were analyzed for the sky brightness constituent zodiacal light, galactic light, and airglow. Color and polarization of the zodiacal light at 30 deg elongation from the ultraviolet to the near infrared is presented. The galactic light is analyzed for its intensity, its dependence on galactic latitude and for its spectrum. Also a contribution to the calibration of the flux of several bright stars is accomplished in the ultraviolet.
