In previous papers measurements were reported about the argon-content of potassium chloride from Buggingen (Valley of the Rhine). The variation of the argon-content with crystal size was shown to be due to a body-diffusion. In addition, we now determined the uranium- and helium-content of the same samples. The helium-content shows a dependence on crystal size similar to the argon-content. By theoretical considerations we came to the conclusion that the salt layers were formerly at a higher temperature than to-day. Under this assumption the diffusion coefficients were evaluated for argon and helium in potassium chloride by combining all results. The new value for the age of the samples (Lower Oligocene) is (25 +5 -3 . 10 6 . This value is only slightly higher than the previous one 21. 10 6 a, which shows that the influence of a varying temperature docs not effect the result considerably.
