We compute numerical models of uniformly rotating strange stars within the framework of general relativity. The influence of rotation on global parameters of such stars is greater than in the case of the ordinary neutron stars. We calculate the ratio of the rotational kinetic energy to the absolute value of the gravitational potential energy T/W (relevant for their stability with respect to triaxial deformations) for rapidly rotating strange stars. We show that the value of T/W for strange stars (independly on any parameters of equation of state) is significantly higher than that for neutron stars. This might indicate that rapidly rotating strange stars could be important sources of gravitational waves.
