Modifications of mixing length theory are used to obtain approximation models of the solar convective zone which agree with the HOLMU and VAL 80 empirical models of the solar atmosphere at the outer boundary, and with the Abraham-Iben (1971) model of the internal solar structure at the inner boundary. Limits on the ascent velocity of convective elements are imposed in accordance with observations.
