Monte-Carlo type simulated annealing has been investigated as an optimization procedure for reconstructing high spatial resolution astronomical images. In particular, the annealing method is shown to be a powerful technique for phase retrieval in connection with Knox-Thompson speckle correlation data. An annealing schedule is proposed and optimum annealing parameters identified.
