The applicability to Venus of an extremely low frequency (ELF) technique used on Earth to study global lightning activity is examined. A generalizing model of the lower Venusian ionosphere is used to calculate ELF electromagnetic fields. It is shown that observations of global resonances on Venus should make it possible to obtain information about the spatial temporal global distribution of lightning discharges and to improve the parameter values of the lower ionosphere model.
