The effectiveness of whisker diodes in an open structure configuration
has been improved using corner reflectors. The power patterns have been
calculated. They show good agreement with experimental results. For a
laser beam with a beam width of 8 deg and corner angles between 90 and
60 deg an increase in gain of 12 db has been obtained.
