The problem of the transverse diffusion of cosmic rays in the presence
of large-scale magnetic-field disturbances is studied theoretically. A
modified method of self-consistent averaging of the diffusion equation
is used. Attention is given to the case of a large-scale random
magnetostatic field under conditions of interstellar space.
