Ice Grains: Scattering
Scientific paper
Analytical expressions for the extinction and absorption cross-sections of arbitrarily oriented hexagonal columns or plates are derived with the use of the anomalous diffraction theory. Extinction and absorption efficiencies of hexagonal ice columns as functions of particle size and orientation are demonstrated. These analytical expressions provide an efficient approximation for the scattering problem of randomly oriented hexagonal particles.
