The ideal relativistic anisotropic MHD formulation is employed to
analyze the problem of neck formation on a relativistic pinch in the
presence of a longitudinal magnetic field. It is shown that the spectrum
of particles accelerated in the necks of relativistic pinches is similar
to that observed from galactic cosmic rays.
