An angular estimate of whistler trapping in axisymmetric ducts with high or low plasma density is obtained from the waveguide-propagation conditions of whistlers in ducts. Different modes of waveguide propagation are examined, and the maximum trapping angles are studied as a function of wave frequency and duct parameters. Wave leakage from ducts with high plasma density is considered.
