Standard quantum mechanics relies on a series of postulates which constitute its fundamental pillars. In Bohmian mechanics such postulates appear as a natural consequence of the statistical treatment of a trajectory-based theory (just as in classical mechanics). This is a reflection on Bohmian mechanics and its physical implication at both a pedagogical and applied level when analyzing the role of quantum phase in different contexts of quantum mechanics. In particular, to carry out this study, here we have mainly focused on the phenomena of quantum coherence and quantum interference, which are central to many different fundamental and applied problems of interest at present.
