In this paper we demonstrate an analytical model constructed in order to study electromagnetic processes involving loosely bound neutron-rich and proton-rich nuclei. The main feature is a model wave function, having the correct behaviour both at large and small distances. A pure Coulomb continuum is used. As a test case we consider the two-body electromagnetic dissociation of 8B on a Pb target at 936 MeV/A. We investigate the dependence of the 8B dissociation cross section on the nuclear radius, for which we find a strong sensitivity.
