We apply analytic perturbation theory to the inclusive decay of a $\tau$
lepton into hadrons. It is shown that the resulting analyticity of the coupling
constant strongly influences the value of the QCD $\Lambda$-parameter extracted
from the experimental data on $\tau$ decay.
