Large-scale characteristics of circulation in the Venus atmosphere are investigated on the basis of a rough representation of the temperature field based on three parameters: the global mean value, the mean vertical gradient, and the horizontal equator-pole difference. The development of the convective boundary layer in the dayside hemisphere is examined along with the conditions for zonally symmetric stationary circulation of Hadley type.
