The paper examines the design and basic operational characteristics of
the gas chromatograph aboard the Venera 12 probe. Besides the principal
CO2 component, the chromatograph determined traces of N2, Ar, CO, and
SO2 in the atmosphere. Some preliminary results are discussed and
chromatogram sections after computer processing are presented.
