The possibility of using cosmic radio sources for studying the surface of the moon and planets is investigated. It is shown that maser sources provide the most efficient means of probing the moon and receiving the reflected signal on the earth. Conditions are determined for using extended radio sources for bistatic radio location of planets. It is shown that the detection and ranging of planets can be efficiently carried out by using extended radio sources, provided that reflected signals are relayed to the earth by stations located near the planets.
