Viking photography is used to evaluate the possibility of artificial structures existing in the southern Cydonia Region of Mars. A directional analysis of the geology of the region is performed under the assumption that artificial structures do not have to follow the prevailing geological orientation. Such deviation from the prevailing orientation is not found.
