Errors in the determination of electron density due to the use of the spherically symmetric approximation are evaluated on the basis of a model of the daytime Venusian ionosphere based on data of two-frequency radio occultation by the Venera-9, 10 probes. It is shown that the error in the determination of electron density profiles N(h) due to asymmetry did not have a significant influence on the radio-occultation results. In addition, the error due to radial variations of the solar zenith angle in the ionosphere had practically no effect on the determination of electron density distribution in the regions of the principal and lower ionization maxima. It is shown, however, that variations of ionopause height with solar zenith angle can lead in a number of cases to significant errors in the determination of the vertical extent of the daytime ionosphere and the height scales of electron density distribution in the upper ionosphere in the framework of the spherically symmetric approximation.
