Preliminary results of an analysis of the Delta alpha and Y(i) residuals of solar-astrolabe observations obtained at CERGA during the period 1979-1984 are presented. The reduction method of Bougeard et al. (1983) is employed, and the element corrections are computed in the FK4 system using Newcomb theory and in the IAU 1984 system using the VSOP82 theory of the Bureau des Longitudes. In the latter system, the value of the equinox correction is found to be very close to zero. The continued importance of visual observations for the improvement of theoretical models is stressed.
