The fundamental Drift Pair radiation is explained in the framework of the generation mechanism proposed by Zaitsev and Levin (1978), which assumes that the Drift Pair radiation has the same source as Type III bursts - a stream of fast electrons in the corona. When propagating in the divergent magnetic field, the distribution function of supra-thermal electrons becomes unstable due to the normal Doppler effect. Drift Pairs are the result of coalescence of stream-driven plasma waves in narrow regions of double plasma resonance. In this case the radiation is possible both near the second harmonic of the local Langmuir frequency and near the fundamental. The polarization properties of such Drift Pairs coincide with the observed ones.
