The gamma-ray burst on August 28, 1997 (GRB970828) was seen by the ASM on board the RXTE satellite, then it was localized with arc-minute accuracy [14]. We made a quick ASCA TOO observation of 36 ks net exposure time from 1:17 days after the burst occurrence. ASCA saw an X-ray source at RA=18h08m32.2s, Decl=+59d18'54'' within the combined ASM-IPN error box [15,18]. Its light curve displays significant variation while the entire data appear to be consistent with a simple decay represented by t-1.4 considering together the flux given by the PCA/RXTE scan at an earlier period [17].
