The authors have discovered a faint optical counterpart of the infrared bipolar nebula NGC 6334-V. It coincides with the infrared source IRS V-2 and is strongly polarized (38 per cent). An optical polarization map in the immediate vicinity of the source indicates that IRS V-3 is the illuminating source. This, the most luminous of the four sources lying along the ridge or axis of the nebula, is very probably the origin of the bipolar outflow.
