The rise in the flux of linearly polarized 3.2-cm radio emission observed to occur prior to the impulsive phase of solar flares and the accompanying radio bursts may be due to processes taking place in the current sheet. Analysis of the propagation conditions for linearly polarized radiation yields several current-sheet parameters: density, 10 to the 12th/cu cm; height, 0.3-0.4 solar radii; thickness of interface between current sheet and ambient atmosphere, about 1 cm.
