Some sources of errors when using the Obolensky filter method for space charge measurements have been studied. No influence of disturbed lines of forces of the atmospheric electric field caused by a grounded instrument was observed. Under unfavorable conditions point discharges at the inlet will cause errors. Even a simplified filter (fine grade steel wool) showed good efficiency.
