Planetary Companions: Methods Of Observation, Planetary Companions: Interferometry
Scientific paper
The authors report the principle of a method dedicated to the detection of faint companions or other morphological components in the neighbourhood of a star. They obtain extinction of the main stellar contribution in the whole field of a single telescope by achromatic destructive interference with a modified Michelson interferometer. The performances of the system depend on the quality of incident wave: good in space and to be evaluated on terrestrial telescopes with adaptive optics.
