The paper examines observational data on photospheric faculae and problems of explaining an entire set of observational data using homogeneous models. A possibility is proposed of constructing an inhomogeneous model of a facula in which a filament consists of denser facula granulae interspersed with photospheric material. If it is considered that facula granulae are more opaque than the undisturbed photosphere, the radiation from the hotter layers should transmit in lateral directions from the facula granulae. The observed brightness excess of facula filaments in the continuum is explained by the density in the facula being twice that in the photosphere at equal depths.
