A magnetohydrostatic cosmological model is constructed in which the material distribution is given by a perfect fluid together with an incident magnetic field, the free gravitational field of which is of Petrov type 1 degenerate (1D). It is shown that the model is an inhomogeneous one and that the inhomogeneity is due to the introduction of the magnetic field.
