We present an IRAS survey for low mass Class 0, Class I, and flat spectrum protostars in the molecular cloud complex in Perseus. After matching near-IR (J, H, K band) data to IRAS fluxes, twenty-four protostars, including eight previously unstudied sources, were identified on the cloud, mostly near high density regions as given by the (13) CO map of Bachiller & Cernicharo. Bolometric luminosities were calculated using the near-IR and IRAS band fluxes and an assumed long-wavelength spectrum form of (1)/(lambda ). This study finds a mean protostellar luminosity of 27.01 Lsun, and a median value of 9.53 Lsun for the complete population. If, however, the protostars from the two clusters in Perseus (NGC 1333 and IC 348) were removed from the sample, the mean became 7.86 Lsun, and the median became 6.80 Lsun. Finally, we present a comparison of the Perseus protostellar luminosity function to the luminosity functions of the Taurus and rho Ophiuchus molecular clouds. After correcting for distance, a Kolmogorov-Smirnov test showed that the Perseus population was much more similar to the population in rho Oph than in Taurus. However, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test showed that the population of protostars outside of the clusters in Perseus was closer to the population in Taurus. Bachiller, R. and Cernicharo, J.
