The Zodiacal Infrared Project uses advanced absolute radiometers to measure diffuse infrared emission from the interplanetary dust. The telescope is a conductively cooled off-axis doubly reimaging system with a total effective collecting area of 81 sq cm. A resonant tuning fork chopper is located at the second focus while a fifteen-color detector array spanning the 2 to 30 micron spectral region is placed at the final focal plane. This paper describes the design and testing of the sensor.
