A factor of 1.5 increase in neutron intensity was detected during the
penumbral lunar eclipse of 26 July 1991. Here, some characteristics of
the observed effect are examined. It is suggested that the observed
increase in neutron intensity results from the gravitational effect of
the moon with respect to the earth.
