The translational-rotational motion of two deformable planets in the restricted three-body problem is analyzed. The results confirm that tidal evolution results in a trend toward commensurability between the mean angular velocities of rotational and orbital motions. An effect is discovered whereby the axis of symmetry of a dynamically stretched planet deviates from the line connecting the centers of mass of the planets by a small angle proportional to the parameters that determine the viscoelastic properties of the planet.
