The paper gives an overview of an initiative, so far unique in Italy, concerning a cooperation between IMT ( an aerospace Rome-based SME ) and a national Technical School (I.T.I.S. Galilei, also Rome-based) aiming at improving the students' awareness of the space activities and, through the participation of selected groups of students to short courses and on-the-job-training, to increase their prospectives for jobs in the space industry. It was found that a microsatellite is fairly representative of the topics and problems commonly faced in an industrial environment involved in a space project, and was then chosen as a "platform" for the educational project. The paper describes and comments in some detail the three educational paths so far implemented: short courses, hands-on practicing, and Summer stages, with considerations on their effectiveness and lessons learnt. The success of this initiative - now on the third year of a six-years exclusive cooperation agreement between IMT and I.T.I.S. Galilei - is pushing IMT to think about more ambitious educational-oriented initiative, a glimpse of which is also excerpted here.
