The development of a computerized reduction technique applicable to moderate spectral resolution, long slit spectrography has been presented in Paper I. The resulting programmes are chained in an interactive or automatic procedure run on a VAX 780 computer in the context of MIDAS environment. This software corrects automatically for the strong transverse and longitudinal distortions normally induced by image-tubes or electronographic cameras. The reduction of a sample of 7 spectra obtained with the ESO 1.52 m telescope equipped with the Boller and Chivens spectrograph plus image-tube illustrates the technique we have developed. The wavelength calibration procedure can achieve an accuracy of 0.04 Å with an original reciprocal dispersion around 40 Å mm-1.
