It is proposed that the Frobenius matrix norm be used as a quantitative measure to distinguish two autocovariance matrices which specify models of orbital-measurement errors. Computational relationships are given for the so-called deformation charactertistics of the models, and the values of these characteristics are calculated for a particular algorithm of orbital-data processing. Ways to use the results obtained to enhance the data-processing quality are examined.
