When a voltage higher than 20 kv is applied on an asymmetric capacitor, the capacitor experiences a net force acting toward its thinner electrode. This effect is called Brown-Biefeld (BB) effect, in honor of its discoverers Thomas Townsend Brown and Paul Alfred Biefeld. A lot of theories have been proposed to explain the BB effect, and many speculations can be found on the net suggesting the BB effect to be an antigravitation effect that works in vacuum too. Other sources say the BB effect warps the space. However, in the recent years, more an more researchers attribute the BB effect to a unicharge ion wind . This work calculates the levitation force due to the ion wind and also presents experimental results which confirm the theoretical results. Our calculations use local coordinates analysis, and have a very low computing cost.
