A new class of functionals associated to pure quantum states describing multipartite systems is provided on the basis of a simple and intuitive idea. We investigate their properties, showing in particular that such quantities are strictly connected to the concept of purity. We moreover prove that simoultaneous maximization of relevant functionals in the case of three-qubit states is compatible only with the structure of GHZ-states.
