An adaptive optimum filter capable of processing the data of a resonant bar gravitational-wave detector is described which is based on the matched filter theory. The filter is adaptive in the sense that the function it realizes is derived from the actual noise spectrum of the data being analyzed. Its implementation is based on frequency domain techniques. The filter is applied to the data recorded by a cryogenic detector 'Explorer'.
