Extrasolar Planets: Coronographs
Scientific paper
The authors examine the potential performances of the achromatic interfero-coronagraph for a ground-based exploitation with a telescope using adaptive optics. The lower Zernike modes, which perturb the fraction of the field near the central star, are well corrected. This allows the perception of faint circumstellar features or companions up to as near as the third part of the first dark Airy ring, a region inaccessible to classical occultation coronagraph.
